Thankyou to all who came to support us at our Malawi Send off Show on Friday 17th July, It was a great evening and a great way to wish all those going to Malawi the best of luck on their expedition.

We leave York at 11:00am on Wednesday 22nd July - so not long to go until we leave!

London Marathon

Chris Skinner, from 16th Bermondsey Scout Group in London has set himself of running the London Marathon this year (26th April) Chris has decided to raise funds for our expedition. We wish Chris the best of luck in the race. You can sponsor Chris here

St Crux Days

The Malawi group have run two days at St Crux Church in the centre of York which have raised a large amount towards our trip. A huge thankyou to everyone who supported us.

In July / August 2009, a group of 30 Explorer Scouts and leaders from the historic city of York, England, will undertake their most adventurous project to date.

They will travel to Livingstonia in northern Malawi to undertake a support project at the David Gordon Memorial Hospital.

The aim is to redevelop the hospital building at this essential healthcare facility and to support the growth of a local Scout Group.

Malawi is amongst Africa's poorest countries. It has suffered drought, famine and political suppression.

At times food and water will be scarce. This will certainly NOT be a comfortable, laid-back 3 week holiday.
